Yoga Class

Studio Etiquette

1. Punctuality
Please arrive at the studio at least five minutes before class begins so we can start on time. For safety, the door will be closed once class has started, and late entry is unfortunately not possible.

2. Shoes
Please remove your shoes upon entering the yoga studio and place them in the designated shoe racks.

3. Practice Ahimsa
One of the most important principles of Yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism: non-violence! Do not harm yourself or others, neither in action nor in thought. Practice consideration and kindness — towards yourself and others.

4. Injuries, illnesses, or personal needs
If you have an injury or physical limitation, please inform your teacher before class. This allows your teacher to offer safe modifications or alternatives that support you. These tips will help not only during class but also in daily life.

5. Phones, valuables, and bags
We kindly ask you to switch off your phone completely before entering the yoga room — including vibration mode! Please store phones, valuables, and bags in the designated shelves so your practice space remains clear. Note: we cannot take responsibility for valuables.

6. When the yoga room gets full
If the room fills up, we appreciate your cooperation in moving closer together and, if needed, starting a 4th row. This way, there will be enough space for everyone. Please do this quietly and respectfully, ensuring everyone has room to practice.

7. Silence is golden
There’s plenty of time to chat before and after class. During class, conversations are distracting. Feel free to ask questions if necessary, but otherwise, please wait until after class.

8. Savasana
At the end of class, during Savasana, it is customary to face the teacher with your head, not your feet — as a sign of respect, a tradition observed worldwide.

9. Behavior in the yoga room
Only water is allowed in the yoga room — no other drinks or food. Please do not enter with street shoes. The yoga room is a place of stillness and reflection, so avoid using your phone (including calls in the foyer, WhatsApp, or SMS). We kindly ask you to put away props such as blocks, blankets, and bolsters neatly after class. This saves us time and effort — thank you!

10. Respect the teacher’s sequencing
Please do not create your own routine. Inform the teacher of any injuries or conditions (such as pregnancy) that may affect your practice, and they will provide modifications. Otherwise, follow the class sequence and trust the process.

11. Practice Ahimsa (again!)
Remember: non-violence in thought, word, and action. Be mindful, gentle, and respectful — with yourself and others.

12. A little consideration and a smile…
…and practicing yoga together becomes even more joyful! Please be mindful of personal hygiene, avoid heavy perfumes, and wear appropriate clothing.

13. Don’t try to impress anyone
Yoga is not a competition. There are no prizes for poses. Your practice will look and feel different every day — and that’s perfectly fine.

14. Respect your limits
For your safety and respect towards your teacher and fellow students, please avoid joining a class that is beyond your current level. Never force yourself into a pose. Use props whenever you need them. Remember — it’s not a race.
